Working Cats

Cats are all unique, and we believe in finding the right home for every cat. Some cats simply don’t enjoy living in close proximity to people and don’t thrive in a typical home environment. For these cats, farms, stables, garden centres or rural homes with secure outbuildings provide the perfect setting, allowing them to live as outdoor “working” cats. Although working cats are generally more independent than domestic pets, they still need regular food and fresh water every day, a safe, enclosed shelter, and someone to keep an eye on their wellbeing. They may also enjoy human company and attention on their own terms, and they should always have access to veterinary care if needed. Given the right environment, they usually prefer to come and go as they please. As with all of our cats, working cats must be confined when they first arrive to give them time to settle and recognise their new home. This may mean keeping them inside a secure outbuilding, stable, barn or other enclosed shelter before allowing them to roam freely. This settling-in period is essential, helping them become familiar with the area and reducing the risk of them wandering away. Every location is different, so we will assess your site and advise on the most suitable settling-in period for your new recruit.
