Rory was a long-term stray who was being fed by the person that reported him to us. Although he happily accepted the resident cat there, in foster he is mostly uninterested in the neighbouring cats — unless they wake him from a nap, in which case he can become quite vocal about the disturbance! He does take a little while to build trust and fully warm up to new people, so he’ll need patient owners who are happy to let him settle at his own pace — but once he feels safe and comfortable, he’s incredibly rewarding and affectionate. Rory would definitely prefer a calm, quieter home without young children — somewhere he can truly relax, unwind, and have cosy spots to retreat to when he wants a little space of his own. Once Rory feels safe and trusts you, he’s an absolute sweetheart. He adores being brushed and rewards the attention with loud purrs and by rolling over to show his tummy. He’s never lashed out or shown any defensive behaviour, so it’s important that his boundaries are respected and he’s allowed to settle at his own pace. He’s not a particularly playful cat — in fact, yesterday was the very first time he hinted at wanting to play, and even then it lasted all of half a second! What Rory really loves is gentle affection. Chin scratches and little massages under his ears make him completely melt. He enjoys company and attention, but he’s not a cat who wants to be constantly fussed over or smothered. Favourite treat? Lik-e-Lix, of course. Rory is in Westbury, Wiltshire in a foster home.
