Crookshanks is a handsome black boy with quite a story. He was recently found by a member of the public and handed into a local vets, where his microchip led to a discovery no one was expecting – Crookshanks had been missing for six years!
His previous owner was amazed to hear that he had been found safe after all this time, having sadly assumed the worst many years ago. Since then, circumstances have changed and they have moved, and they are no longer in a position to take him back. So, after six years of uncertainty, Crookshanks is now looking for a fresh start and the happy ending he deserves.
Unsurprisingly, after everything he may have experienced while missing, Crookshanks is a shy and cautious boy who needs time to feel safe. He can be nervous around people, particularly if someone is standing over him, and will often wait until everything is quiet before venturing out for some attention.
But get down on his level and give him the chance to come to you, and a completely different side begins to emerge. Crookshanks is incredibly sweet and can be very cuddly, happily coming over for strokes and affection once he feels comfortable.
He is healthy, has a good appetite and is gradually finding his feet again. We don’t know what his life has looked like over the past six years, so his new family will need to be patient and allow him to settle at his own pace without expecting too much too soon.
We feel Crookshanks would be happiest in a quiet, calm adult-only home without children or other pets, where he can have the space and time he needs to build his confidence. He needs someone gentle and understanding who will let him come out of his shell in his own time.
After being missing for six whole years, this lovely boy really deserves somewhere safe to finally call home.
